Mommy Food Finds: Garden Lites Veggie Bites

FullSizeRender (19)

I love making bite-sized quiche and veggie muffins for Joey (and myself). But sometimes, I just don’t have the time. I ran across GardenLites Veggie Bites the other day when shopping and figured I would give them a try. I personally have had many of the GardenLites products myself, but have not tried any with Joey. These bite sized options seemed like the perfect ones to try with him. What I loved was the first ingredient is actually broccoli (unlike some brands that are a “vegetable” product and the vegetable is no where to be found on the ingredient list or is added on at the very end). These are made from a blend of veggie, brown rice, egg, and seasonings and spices. There’s no ingredients listed that make you ask “what is that?” so I feel good about allowing Joey to eat these.

I wasn’t sure how it would go over, but he loved them! He wolfed down the first muffin so quick I had to make him a few more. They were a big success with him (and with me). I will definitely be buying more of these in the future. From a nutrition aspect, they are a good source of protein and fiber. The sodium is a tiny bit high (as with most pre-made foods), but if I had made these myself with seasonings such as garlic or onion powder, the sodium would be similar. Overall, I give these an A+ rating and feel good about letting my little guy eat them.
