How to Create a Candy Corn Smoothie

Easy Candy Corn Smoothie Recipe | Healthy Halloween Smoothie Recipe for Kids

I love Halloween, but the one thing I find a little scary is just how much added sugar my family starts to eat this time of year. Don’t get me wrong- I have no problem with my kids enjoying some candy here and there. I enjoy candy myself. But I also don’t want them filling up on it every day or in place of more nutritious snack options.

My two-year-old is pretty much obsessed with candy corn. Like really obsessed. And I do let him have some, but it was starting to get out of hand. He was asking for it all.the.time. So to appease him without the sugar overload, I started to research some healthy candy corn recipes as an alternative ‘treat.’ And not surprisingly, there really aren’t any. But the boy does love a good smoothie. So I thought it would be really fun to create a Halloween smoothie recipe that looks like a giant candy corn, even if it isn’t exactly the same taste.

How to make a healthy Halloween Smoothie Recipe

Thanks to the blend of fruit and Greek yogurt, this Halloween smoothie make the perfect kid-friendly Halloween treat that you will feel good about serving too. And it’s pretty easy to make. And you know there’s nothing I like better than an easy recipe – especially if it’s an easy Halloween recipe!

With just four ingredients this easy Halloween smoothie can be made in just minutes. You could make a batch for a Halloween party or – if you want to get really creative – freeze it in popsicle molds to create a candy corn popsicle recipe as well.  What I love is I can get the whole family involved in making this smoothie recipe. And when my kids help to prepare a food, they are also more likely to eat it.

A healthy Halloween recipe your kids will love – and so will you!

One of the reasons I love this Halloween smoothie so much (besides it being so easy to make) is that it is packed full of protein, fiber, and antioxidants. I’ve mostly served it as a fun after school snack, but it could even be an easy Halloween breakfast idea too. There’s really no right or wrong way to serve this candy corn smoothie recipe. But it’s definitely a fun and easy way to celebrate Halloween in a healthier way. So hurray for a sweet treat without all of the added sugar!

To make the perfect candy corn smoothie, you will want to use a small food processor or blender as well as three separate bowls. Create each layer individually and then stack them in a clear glass to create the candy corn smoothie.

Step #1

Blend together frozen peaches and banana to create the yellow layer of the candy corn smoothie. If you want to amp up the yellow color a bit more, you can use a drop of natural food coloring or a pinch of powdered turmeric.

Since this will be the bottom layer of the candy corn smoothie, I recommend pouring it into the glass and then placing the glass in the freezer. Allow it to ‘set’ in the freezer for a few minutes while you create the second layer. This will help to keep the colors ‘stacked’ to create the illusion of a candy corn.

Step #2

Blend your clementine together with the Greek yogurt to create the orange layer. I found this layer to be nice and orange on its own, so there shouldn’t be a need to enhance the color. If you want to bump up the nutrient and fiber content of the smoothie, you could also blend in a bit of carrot to this layer as well.

Once your yellow layer has set in the freezer, pour the orange layer on top so the colors don’t mix. Place the glass back into the freeze to allow this layer to set before adding the final layer.

Step #3

The white layer of the candy corn smoothie is just Greek yogurt (you can use plain or vanilla- I used vanilla). Blend the Greek yogurt with ice so that it thins out a bit making it easier to drink through a straw.

Once this layer is complete, pour it on top of the two ‘set’ layers and serve immediately. And enjoy your healthy Halloween smoothie alone or alongside your favorite candy 😉
