Whether you’re managing your diabetes, following a low carb diet, or on a keto meal plan, you’re probably wondering how you can still eat bread and stay within your meal plan goals.

Thankfully, with so many amazing low carb options out there these days, you don’t have to give bread up, you just need to buy the right bread. For low-cost, delicious, and accessible bread, Aldi doesn’t disappoint!

Is Low-Carb Bread at Aldi Worth It?

Aldi has plenty of bread options to choose from, and lucky for us, several low-carb breads are on that list. One of the perks of buying low-carb bread at Aldi’s is that they’re likely to be much more affordable than low-carb bread at box stores or online.

Comparing the Seedtastic bread at my local Aldi to an almost identical bread at a big box store, I saved over two dollars a loaf by choosing the Aldi brand. With comparable ingredients, taste, and nutrition values it makes sense to save and buy your low-carb bread at Aldi.

Low Carb Bread Options at Aldi

Here’s five low-carb breads you can try next time you go shopping at Aldi.

Aldi's L’oven Fresh Protein Bread

L’oven Fresh Protein Bread

Net Carbs: 4 grams

The L’oven Fresh Protein Bread at Aldi’s has 10 grams of protein, 4 grams of net carbs, and 100 calories per slice.

Pros: With 10 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber, this bread will help keep you full and satisfied without adding too many carbs to your meal.

Cons: While the package states “plant based protein” this bread does contain whey from milk, which might not work for some people.

Fit & Active 35 Calorie 100% Whole Wheat Bread

Fit & Active 35 Calorie 100% Whole Wheat Bread

Net Carbs: 5.5  grams

The Fit & Active 35 Calorie 100% Whole Wheat Bread both low in calorie and with just 5.5 grams of net carbs per slice, this can be enjoyed on low-carb meal plans as well as calorie restricted meal plans as well.

Pros: Low carb and low calorie, you can still enjoy bread no matter what your meal plan or weight loss goals.

Cons: One slice only has 2.5 grams of protein and 2.5 grams of fiber. While this is higher than some bread, it’s not going to help keep you full and satisfied by itself. One slice of this bread is quite small and not very dense,  so keep that in mind when you’re piling on the sandwich fillings.

Keto Friendly Multiseed or Wheat Bread

Keto Friendly Multiseed or Wheat Bread

Net Carbs:0 grams

Aldi’s Keto Friendly Multiseed or Wheat Bread rings in at an impressive zero grams of net carbs, making it a great keto or low carb choice.

Pros: Each slice has only 50 calories and an impressive 9 grams of fiber and 5 grams of protein. It’s also low in sodium with each slice only having 3% of your DV of sodium.

Cons: While the price is higher than other breads at Aldi, it’s still a lot lower than other name brands of Keto bread, so not really a con, is it?

Siply Nature Organic Seedtastic Bread

Simply Nature Organic Seedtastic Bread

Net Carbs: 9 grams

The Seedtastic Bread at Aldi is part of the Simply Nature line, which is free from artificial ingredients and preservatives. Every slice has 9 grams of net carbs and is only 70 calories.

Pros: Each slice has 3 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber as well as 350 mg of omega-3 fatty acids. The texture of the bread has a satisfying crunch with the mixture of flax, sunflower, and sesame seeds.

Cons: The bread itself is pretty small. So while it’s lower in calories and carbs, the size doesn’t measure up to what a “regular” sized slice of bread is.

Simply Nature Knock Your Sprouts off 7-Grain Sprouted Bread

Simply Nature Knock Your Sprouts off 7-Grain Sprouted Bread

Net Carbs: 11 grams

Another Simply Nature bread that falls in the low carb category, the Knock Your Sprouts Off bread comes in a traditional or low-sodium variety.

Pros: While this is one of the higher low-carb breads on the list, the sprouted grains help it stand out. Sprouted grains are more easily digestible for some people, so your stomach may be able to tolerate this bread better than breads that use non-sprouted grains.

Cons:  The slices are small and the carbs may be a little high for some people. At 11 grams per slice, it might not fit in a keto plan, but will work well if you’re managing diabetes with a lower carb diet.

If you’re looking for low-carb bread to help manage your diabetes, Aldi has some great options. There’s no need to give up bread, and no need to spend a fortune on low-carb bread either. At Aldi you can find delicious low-carb bread at a reasonable price point to fit your budget.
