How to Live Your Best Life Every Day & Contest Announcement!

How to live your best life everyday

Life is so busy at times that it can be hard to break away from the constant to-do list to focus on what’s really important. Now that I have children, I realize even more how essential it is to take a few minutes each day to make sure we laugh, have fun, and just enjoy life. In order to feel my best every day, I make it a point to unplug, get outside, and just be silly with my family. Even if it is only for a few minutes, taking time out for yourself to do what makes you feel good is an essential part of a healthy life. That’s why I am so excited to partner with Sunsweet Growers on their new #FeelGoodFruit campaign to share the steps I take to live my best life each day and to hopefully inspire you to feel your best each day as well.

This post has been created in partnership with Sunsweet Growers. All opinions are my own.

In order to be my best each day, I have to feel my best and for me, that starts with good nutrition. Fueling my body from the inside lets me be at my best on the outside. And if I feel my best, I can be at my best for everyone who depends on me each day. When it comes to my nutrition, one of my biggest concerns is making sure I am getting enough fiber each day. That’s why I love adding Sunsweet Amaz!n Prunes to my daily routine. With 3 grams of fiber and only 100 calories per serving (and no added sugar!) this ‘Feel Good Fruit’ helps with healthy digestion while giving me the energy I need to tackle whatever the day throws at me. As an added bonus, my kids can’t get enough of them! Whether we are enjoying a picnic lunch out on our front lawn or playing in the leaves, we usually keep our favorite snacks on hand so we can quickly refuel. And of course Sunsweet Amaz!n Prunes are always part of our snacking routine.

How to Live Your Best Life Every Day

Sometimes the idea of trying to live ‘your best life’ everyday can feel overwhelming. Just the other day, work was piling up, the house was a mess, and my to-do list was a mile long. I wanted to just bury myself in my work until it was done. But I knew if I did that, and didn’t spend any time that day with my family or take a few minutes for self-care, I’d regret it. When I first went back to work as a ‘working mom’ there would be days where I hardly saw my baby at all. I remember at the end of one long day asking myself ‘what did I really accomplish today? Did I make a difference?” Sure, my work was done, but that was it. My baby was missing his mommy, my husband was missing his wife, and I was feeling pretty miserable about it. After that realization I decided from that day on, even if it was just for a few minutes, I would make sure I did something every day where I felt fully present. No emails, no cell phones, no work-related concerns… just quality time where I could take in all of those little moments in life that matter so much. To do that, I created a super easy three step plan to live my best life every day.

The 3-Step Plan to Living Your Best Life

3 step plan to live your best life

Step #1: Unplug

If you are like me, you are probably addicted to your cell phone without realizing it. I carry mine everywhere ‘just in case.’ Just in case someone needs me. Just in case I want to take a picture. Just in case I want to check my email quickly. You get the idea. Even when I tell myself I am going to unplug, if my phone is next to me, it can be hard to resist the urge to glance over at it and get pulled into whatever notification pops up. So, I decided that at least once a day, I will leave my phone behind, carry a real camera if I need one, and just be present in what’s going on around me. This one tiny trick has made such a difference in the quality time I spend with my family as well as my stress levels!

 Step #2: Laugh

This is so basic, yet so important. That quote ‘laughter is the best medicine’ is so true. You need to spend at least a few moments each day laughing. Laugh at yourself, laugh at your kids, or laugh at a funny movie. It doesn’t matter what it is that makes you laugh, what’s important is that you take time each day to make sure something makes you happy enough to belt out a belly laugh.

Step #3: Fuel yourself

You probably put a lot of time and effort into thinking about how to keep all the machines and equipment in your life running smoothly. You put gas in your car and keep up with your oil changes. You make sure your computer is updated with the latest antivirus software. The list goes on. But do you give an equal amount of thought to how you actually fuel yourself? Are you eating nutritious foods at each meal? Are you drinking enough water? Getting enough fiber? Just like if you forget to put gas in your car’s engine, your body can’t perform at its best if you aren’t fueling it the right way. So, don’t skimp out on your nutrition. Stock up on healthy, convenient foods that you can grab even on the busiest days that still give your body what it needs. For me, I keep my pantry stocked with a mix of nuts, Sunsweet Amaz!n Prunes, air popped popcorn, sunflower seeds, and dried chickpeas. At any moment, I can grab one (or all), whip up a delicious snack, and be on my way knowing I gave my body what it needs to get through even the busiest of days.
