2 Ingredient Greek Yogurt Cream Cheese Frosting Apple Dip
One of my favorite fall memories is apple picking with my family growing up. We’d come home with bags full of crisp, juicy apples and make everything from apple crisp, to cider, to pie. Now that fall is here, I am so ready for a sweet apple treat, but I wanted to create one that isn’t just delicious, but is also nutritious. So instead of baking up a batch of apple pie, I decided to make this incredibly easy 2-Ingredient Greek Yogurt Cream Cheese Frosting Apple Dip.
This post was created in partnership with Dannon Light & Fit. I have been compensated for my time commitment. However, my opinions, recipes, and nutritional information are entirely my own and I have not been paid to publish positive comments.
I don’t know about you, but I am pretty much always on board with eating frosting. I’d love to just sit down with a bowl of it and go to town, but we both know that wouldn’t be the best idea. A two tablespoon serving of cream cheese frosting (my favorite) contains about 140 calories and 21 grams of sugar –two tablespoons!! So, I decided there had to be a better way.
That’s why I decided to combine Dannon Light & Fit Original Greek Vanilla Nonfat Yogurt with low fat cream cheese to get the same great taste with fewer calories and little added sugar. I chose to use Greek nonfat yogurt in my frosting makeover since the current Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend increasing your intake of nutrient-dense foods, such as fat-free or low-fat dairy products, like yogurt. With yogurt being a good source of both protein and calcium (and Greek yogurt typically containing more protein than regular yogurt) this made an incredible nutritious recipe swap. And because I used Light & Fit Original Greek Vanilla Nonfat Yogurt which contains80 calories and 12 grams of protein per 5.3 oz, this swap helps make my recipe lighter in calories and sugar than your traditional cream cheese frosting – while still being just as creamy and delicious!
This smooth, creamy spread makes a fabulous dip for any fruit, but pairs perfectly with sliced apples and is now my go-to dessert to bring to every holiday party. It couldn’t be easier either- the whole recipe can be prepped in about one minute and has been a huge hit with everyone who’s tried it.
